Investigation of the Effect of Twelve Pharmaceuticals on Germination and Growth Parameters of Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.)

Pharmaceuticals (PhACs) are chemical substances that, after their use, can reach wastewater treatment plants, but the resulting treated (TWW) still contain these contaminants. If TWWs used for irrigation, PhACs contaminate crops and also hinder growth. The aim of this work was to evaluate effects 12 mixture at different doses on basil germination early growth its photosynthetic pigment content. percentage not affected by even when applied highest doses. results showed that speed cannot be considered as an index vigor future seedlings all seeds germinated first developed best. between 25 100 ppb did show negative pigments basil; in fact, some cases benefitted from application if it were a seeds. assessed dose always caused reduction parameters content basil, especially with climbazole, naproxen, triclosan, PhACs. In general, species tolerant taking into account average wastewater; however, more studies needed long-term translocation edible parts.
